The book is 6" x 9" with perfect binding, and has 110
photographs, and 420 pages.
The non-fiction book in its simplest form is just a big book with little stories about
the book's photographs... 110 of them. The photographs just happen to have
long captions. A photograph was required to qualify a particular story for inclusion in
this book.
The long captions were written to inspire or provide some humor. Readers are likely to
find a few to be thought-provoking; however, mostly they are simply entertainment.
The stories were not made up to fill a book. They are true, and happened the way I tell
them.
Some of the stories are historical by subject and may even be educational, and some are
purely autobiographical; however, since I am not that unique, I am likely addressing
something that others have experienced or wanted to.
Some stories existed long before this book was even thought of. In some cases,
the personal stories go back to 1944. Some are from a much longer time in the past, yet I
have ties to that time.
I have spent so much time in Britain, it was natural to include some favorite British
stories. To consider British history is to consider why the U.S. is the way it is. The
British photographs were taken by me and my wife and the presentation of these images
became part of the three college courses I wrote and taught for eight years. These stories
are the interesting twists and turns that occurred in people's lives; some humorous, some
tragic. They are simply what I told the class while they viewed those
particular images.
No photograph; no story.
